Arrived into Mendoza and checked into a hostel called Break Point. It turned out to be far more than just a quick break as the next 27 days flew by in a blaze of drunken antics and asados. Here is a quick break down.

New Years Mutant Nija Turtles: On new years eve we had a brilliant group of people gathered outside for an Asado (Argentine BBQ) and a few drinks whilst we counted down various new years in other countries. After hideous amounts of booze it was time to hit the clubs. One problem - no cabs. Even the group who did manage to get a cab were driven around in circles for 3 hours before returning empty handed. Instead we sat in the hostel playing drinking games and cruising through the Champenge. Eventually every one drifted off to bed. However Murry (an Aussie guy)and I had different ideas and kept drinking. Infact we drunk for 36 hours solid. Murry did have a little cat nap, but he got sunburnt in the process so Karma had her way. We were running around on the roof playing Teenage Mutant Nija Turtles for hours before returning to the sewers and completing missions form Splinter, a poor Canadian dude who probably just wanted to sleep. It was a pretty massive session and the hostel staff who were starting work were warned to keep and eye on us. They even tried to cut off our alcohol supply!!!!

Top Gun: We deiced to remake the sensational movie Top Gun. After creating many expensive and high quality props and consuming a fair bit of the amber nectar we sorted out the casting. Murray ended up as Maverick and Myself as Goose as everyone was sure we would be around long enough to finish the shooting. There is a friend of Murry, Clements (who we think is a German porn star)who works with cameras and had a few editing programs to work with. He did a sensational job at putting all the raw filming together, including sound effects and music. Basicly what we thought was going to be a 4-5 minute version quickly got out of hand and now its is pretty much full length (if we ever finish it that is). It came together really well and we have many, many cast members floating around Sth America now. We are hoping to provide a link at some point. It is going to propel us all to super stardom I am sure.

Bodega Tour: Murray, Richard and I decided to have a small break from all the drinking so decided to take a bus to a place called Maipu, where all the wineries are located. The basic idea was to take a few tours a drink some free wine at the tastings after. We hired our bikes and set of in the blazing sun to our first Bodega. After the whole tour in spanish and me personally learning nothing we had a few tastings of Malbec. We then conned the host into a few more glasses before we ventured to the shop and swiftly consumed two more bottles of wine.
Back on our bikes a little more merry, we biked to our next bodega which was a family run affair. A few tastings later we purchased a lush bottle of port for the road and took to the bikes only stopping for the odd swig of port at designated resting spots. You get the general idea of the rest of the tour after 6-7 Bodegas we were fairly smashed and had to race back to return the bikes complete with a few more bottles for the night to come.

Toga Party:
We had a Toga party the other night which was a slightly gay affair at first, but eventually we had the whole hostel involved. We all stole the sheets of our beds and after 40 minutes of trying to put the bloody things on we made our grand entrance. Complete with grapes, masses of vino, Gladiator the movie and grape vines through our hair we slowing got to work destroying the wine (and our sheets).
The hostel is also a bar and restaurant, so 10 of us choreographed a dance and song, and climbed to the roof of the hostel and performed in front of over 100 people. We started with a roman wave and moved to the macarena dance then sang you´ve lost that loving feeling from top gun! We finished the routine to a huge round applause then did the locomotion through the restaurant and bar then down the street, stopping cars and getting huge applause and horns from everyone! The night finished with a dance party in the hostel to Argentinean music called Kumbia.

The Full Moon / Midnight Rafting Party
Well, we got off our lazy arses didn't we, and actually made it rafting. We drove for just shy of 2 hours to get to the rafting place. The moon was up and as bright as ever on the way there, but due to the extremely high mountains surrounding us, we couldn't raft until the moon was high in the sky.
So we kicked off the night with a dance party and waited till midnight. As the moon rose in the sky, the tension built and finally, it poked up from one of the tallest mountains to a huge roar from the crowd. We donned our life jackets and jumped in the boats. rafting for 20 odd minutes in the moonlight on some relatively calm rapids but the scenery was just spectacular. A starry sky and some monstrorous mountains provided us with a spectacular setting for some crazyness in the boats before we headed back to where we started and got on the brewskis and danced around a massive bonfire and a full moon. Murray and I were determined to return to Mendoza on a musical sing along bus. The rest of the bus were not really up for it and were telling us to ´shut up´ and insisting we sleep. We had other ideas however and sung even louder on the way home. No friends won there I am afraid:)

Well we have been staying for free at the hostel for the last few nights. The rafting trip and party was our last major blow out and am now going cold turkey on the booze for a while. Its been a pretty unreal party and I have a meet a few awesome people here. But its time to leave tomorrow. Off to Chile - Finally!!

An Ode To Break Point;
Its time for Murray and Jag to go
We put on a hell of a show

We went midnight rafting
and failed to get a shafting

But we did get extremely pissed
way too many times to list

we put up with bugs in the beds
we thought they would take off out heads

Then the pool went green
and needed a clean,

thanks to Daniel,
who has as much energy as a Cockerspaniel

and Monica too,
What would we do without you

Big thanks to all,
We had a fucking ball!

And the dish ran away with the spoon.
