I finally flew into Manuas in the heart of the Amazon after an insane few weeks in Rio. The air temperature was like a rush when I jumped off the plane. Before long I was at my hostel of choice and had hoisted my hammock up in my room with the Mosquito net.
After a day of walking through Manuas I generally didn´t get a very good feel for the place. It is nicknamed the Paris of the Tropics, however it is very rundown. There are a lot of potential very nice colonial buildings but unfortunately they are all in a really bad state of Repair. The main exception being the Teatro Amazonia, the local opera house and its surrounds are very beautiful. The old markets on the wharf also have a lot of character.

I was meant to explore the Amazon from here but after a little research decided to go
further upstream to towards Peru. There I will go to an Eco Tourism lodge for 4 days.
