Selcuk near the coast of Turkey was the base for us to explore the Roman ruins of Ephesus, which in their day were only outshone by Athens. The large site 3km from Selcuk did not disappoint. The most impressive features of the site were the Celsus Library, Temple of Hadrian, Marble Way, Fountain of Trajan and the Great Theatre, which holds 24000 people. All these were still in pretty immense condition considering how old they were. On they way back we managed to hitch a ride on the back of a tiny motorbike, the three of us zooming the 70 minutes back.
