Porto, a favourite amongst friends of mine that had been through Portugal managed to rub some of its apparent likeablillity onto me. The campsite was amongst a huge wooded park that had a very sociable feel about it. Porto clings to the steep north bank of the Rio Doure where on the other side is Vila Nova De Gama, where all the Port lodges are located. A huge bridge stradles the valley inbetween. On one of the days we paid a visit to abou 5 different port lodges each giving us a tour of their factories and the ineviteable tastings at the end of each. I, having found a new love for Port ended up purchasing a bottle of Red Port whilst Emilie went for a bottle of white port, which we consumed at the campsite later that night.

The next morning I was woken by Emilie screaming as something was trying to rip through the tent. I jumped out to find that a massive branch 10 meters long had fallen from the tree above and hit the clothes line that we had put up. It was lucky it hit this and not landed directly on the tent instead bouncing a few times before then ripping through the tent. After dragging the tent away from the tent we went back to bed along with the rest of the campsite that we had woken.
Whilst here we also wandered around the area of Ribera, taking in all the hand painted tile shops and seafood resturanuts. We also climbed the Torre Dos Clerios for anamazing view over the red roof tops contrasting with the rich blue river.
