On the road again at 9am the next morning we travelled through Sundsvall trying to make it as far north as possible today. The scenery slowly started to become more rugged the further north we ventured and on our way Pete managed to spot a curios looking animal next to the road as we sped past. After a quick U-turn we discovered it was a White Reindeer sitting in the greenery until we came along and disturbed it. The Reindeer trotted alongside the car as we photographed before darting across the road behind and into the dense bush.
We achieved our aim today of crossing the Arctic circle, posing for a few photos at the signposts before finding a nice place to camp for the night with the snow capped mountains looking over us. There have been next to no tourists out and about, which is surprising as it is so beautiful up here.

The next morning I woke up freezing my ass off in a cool Arctic wind. Yesterday we had lots of talk about having a swim above the Arctic circle, but the other two had lost a bit of confidence amid the clouded skies. I was determined however and eventually we found a river with a good place to swim.
I stripped of and ran into the icy blue water, dunked my head under and performed a few comical back stokes before running out frozen. Then the other two fronted up. Emma ran straight in while Pete need a bit more encourage like me screaming Pussy at him before he ran in. The look of terror on his face was amazing! Aussies huh!
After our fresh start to the morning we rounded the top of Sweden and into Norway stopping at a place called Mai Rana for lunch and then manoeuvring through the mountains that then gave way to sprawling Norwegian communities.
That night we camped up on a roadside spot and ended up playing cards all night and drinking cheap vodka that we had brought from Prague.
