We missed our first bus to Dahab and there was going to be a long wait for another bus. I decided it was going to be a waste of a day waiting around so decided to catch a taxi the 85km from Sham. It was well worth it in the end. The drive down was really nice as well.
Dahab was a way more chilled out place than Sham with a half moon arching bay along the main water frontage. The beach was a mix of gravely-sand with the Sinai Mountains in the background and the Saudi Mountains over the Gulf of Aqaba in the distance.
Most of out time was spent on an awesome beach about a half-hours walk from the main Dahab area. Most of the beachfront was taken up by the big hotels but you could use them for a small fee, well worth it to use the deck chairs and sunhuts to get a break from the sun. They also had a table tennis room that Ewa kicked my arse at. The water was a nice bright light blue and the water was stunningly warm. The beach wasn't really busy which was good as well. I made a massive sandcastle that I was pretty pleased with although Ewa seemed less than impressed with the wonders of my construction. It was still standing the next day.

On another day we took a ride out to visit the blue hole dive area. We didn't do any diving but had something to eat at the restaurant before climbing on some camels for a ride back to Dahab. We were being led by a bunch of kids in a group of about 10 camels. It was pretty good at first but after a while it got really uncomfortable particularly on the butt.

Dahab had been a really excellent place to unwind along side the shore but unfortunately it was time to head back to Cairo. We hadn't even managed to get into the Sinai Mountains, which I had been hoping for.
