Well, the British girls and Australian guy now have names: Danni, Helen, and Lewis.  Although I lost them on my first night in Jogja, we reconnected through fortuitous circumstances and headed out to Borobudur together.  The Borobudur temple complex was built in the 9th century as a Buddhist monument, and it was an amazing sight ... it's made out of millions of stone blocks and all of them carved in bas relief of Buddhist scenes depicting life as it was, supposedly, back then.  What is really amazing is that the temple was destroyed by an earthquake, I mean completely levelled, and some westerners came in and organized a cleanup effort and put the whole thing back together, block by block.

The real adventure lay in getting to Borobudur from Jogja, and if anyone ever goes I know have some advice for how to get there.  We did end up staying in a kick ass hotel for $1.50 each though.  And traveling with people is way different, and in many ways better, than traveling by oneself.  Most importantly, there are people who can share your wonder at all the weird things you see, and, it allowed me to do what I do best, which is meander aimlessly, just making sure that I follow the people in front of me, while they decide where to go.

So I head for Jakarta on the train tomorrow so I can catch a flight to Sumatra.  More then.
