Wellington was named after Arthur Wellesley, the first Duke of Wellington and victor of the Battle of Waterloo. The Duke's title comes from the town of Wellington in the English county of Somerset.
The 2009 Mercer Quality of Living Survey ranked Wellington 12th in the world on its list

Lever vers 9 :00AM, petit déjeuner et Hop dans le Bus-navette au Centre-Ville. Prenons nos points de repère et risquons pour le plaisir, de se perdre un peu, vagabondant sans trop porter attention. Je recherche un veston ultra léger sans doublure mais sans succès. Suzanne cherche petit sac à main, elle aussi sans succès. Marche par ici, marche par la et rien nous convient du moins qui soit à la taille de notre portefeuille. Les modes que l'on y trouve sont assez classiques et très chers. Deux ou trois heures de lèche-vitrine puis on se retrouve au poste d’arrêt de notre Bus. Cette ville nous apparait plutôt comme halte pour le transport maritime de marchandises pour les iles de la Nouvelle Zélande. Peu de photos à vous offrir aujourd’hui. Adieu Wellington.
O.K. Today we go downtown shopping on board the convenient free shuttle bus offered by QM2. I an looking for an extra light sport jacket without any inside lining. Suzanne is looking for a small hand purse to match her dress shoes. After taking our return bearings with a couple of pictures, we start rambling in a haphazard way along the main streets, asking questions to whoever would respond to our inquiries.
Unable to find what we want matching the size of our money clip, we decided after 3 hours of frustrations to get back to our stop sign and catch the return bus back to the ship. Not even the wine or liquor seemed affordable here. This time, unfortunately, we have very few pictures of interests to offer you today. Goodbye Wellington.

It is just fun to continue the trip with you vicariously, through your blog. Thank you for taking the time to post your updates, Raymond. It looks like you are now on a long sea leg. I would have thought that you would have stopped in Auckland, but maybe not.
