So it's just over a month before I leave, and I've done maybe 1/3 of the research, booking and planning that I need to. It is amazing how much time and energy it takes to plan a trip like this. It took me over 30 minutes the other day just to figure out what I was doing wrong when I was dialing Ireland. I understand why people take tours - they're easy to plan. Go to the travel agent, point to the one you want, and hand over your credit card. But alas, I just can't do it. Seems awfully confining to be stuck in a bus for long periods, going to places that don't particularly interest me, with people that I may not like very much. I plan to do the tour thing one day - when I'm off to a land where their written and spoken language is so different than mine that having an interpretor always handy will be a huge benefit to my nervous travellor self.

Anyway, I have some of my itinerary ready. I'm flying into London, and then heading straight down to Brighton. Not sure what exactly I'm going to do there yet - perhaps lots of resting and reading after exploring the pier, beach and town. Then I'm off to Bath, then York, then...that's one of the things I'm still working on. I have a free night and haven't decided yet where I shall spend it. Then it's off to London where after I've had a few days to explore by myself, Laura will arrive and we'll have a few days more. Then it's off to Ireland. I have booked 0% of this trip at this time. We still haven't finalized anything about our itinerary, other than the day we are leaving and from where.

I'll go for now but plan to update as often as possible, including the planning stuff. They say that half the fun is the planning and looking forward to it.....
