Today we hit up Universal Studios for our first Hollywood adventure. Here's a run down on all that we experienced...

Universal Studios Hollywood has rides and shows to attract the tourist-set (such as us!) but it's also a working film and television studio. In the past The 3 Amigos, Psycho, the original Frankenstein and Phantom of the Opera, numerous John Wayne films, Jurassic Park, Spiderman 2 and more have been filmed here. Currently, Desperate Housewives, CSI Las Vegas, Parenthood and more are shot here on a daily basis. The yet to be released Muppets movie of the same name is also filming at present.

First stop was the "must-see" Studio Tour where we partook in a guided behind the scenes tour of the famous studio Back Lot.  We drove past Alfred Hitchcock's writer's bungalow where he would lock himself away and write his magic. Other interesting sights included the Wisteria Lane set and a subway / earthquake simulation used in an episode of Bones. The best part was King Kong 360 3-D: The World's Largest 3-D experience which was created by Peter Jackson.

The rides are pretty tame but lots of fun. Revenge of the Mummy, Jurassic Park, Shrek 4-D and The Simpsons ride are the main attractions. The 3-D technology on show here is very impressive and adds an extra edge to the shows and rides. Obviously its far too difficult to describe in words so I won't even attempt. If you get a chance to come to LA definitely check it out for yourself!
