Ah, family. Oh, how the heart swells when you only see them about once a decade. ;-) That seems to be the cynic-in-me's only way to explain the overwhelming hospitality that we experienced while visiting family in Manila. Everywhere we went, a multi-course meal, entertainment, and an all-out show of generousity and love.
As an example, a great-aunt of mine who owns a fishery lavished us with a spread of fresh seafood (of more than a dozen varieties) as well as several forms of tropical fruit (many of which I was tasting for the first time). At the time, I was also fond of playing tennis, thus several cousins and uncles offered to take me to a tennis court almost daily.
My memories of this particular visit are bathed with much love and affection.
