Flew into LA today. First impressions not very good. It's bloody freezing here. Hostel an ABSOLUTE SHIT HOLE, compounded by the fact that all girls here in early 20's. Feeling like a right ol' grandma. This place stinks. Can't wait to leave! Looked at tours they look shit as well . Maybe things will look better tomorrow once I've had a good nights sleep!

big hug
you sound a bit down babes....

think of the hostel as a social experiment.. OR a trial to even out the fabulous times you have had so far...?? ;o)

it can only get better - wait til you hit the beach and see all those young nubile bodies??......that will make you feel better... ( and older... oops sorry...)

Isn't this the forerunner to your visit with the native indian? Fantastico!!.. ( see I speak a little spanish myself!!)

GET YOURSELF A PINA COLADA baby and get chillin' - you in LA now!!!

Should think you are probably pretty knackered now too after all your jaunting.. so hope your smelly night's sleep has helped you feel a bit better??

it could be worse - you could be here doin' the school run!! The pub guy is being an arse so parking is a nightmare..... - so.... parking up on the kerb in Baldock as it's the closest you can get to the school OR a smelly night followed by great views
(and by that I mean beach bums..and I ACTUALLY mean the bottoms.. peeking out over their USA flagged shorts...).... shit.. I need to get out more!!!

It could be much worse.... you could be ME?? Deranged and unhugged..... ( Hartley if you're reading this....)

lots and lots of love to you....

big kiss ..... ( to the first surfer you see...gggrrrrr woof howl)

byeeee - sam xxxx ( as if you hadn't guessed by now..)

Hi
Sorry to hear that this part of your trip is not so good. Cant beat the Caribbean! I thought sunloungers and blonde beach bum viewing might while away time better than washing ironing and school runs anytime!

Oh dear, L.A.'s not ALL bad!
So sorry to hear about the nasty hostel. I hope you've been able to rally and see some of the extraordinary sights. Two days in L.A. is hardly possible...like going to London for 2 days! So much to see, so many places to go, so spread out....
One BIG difference....NO MASS TRANSPORTATION!!!!! It's almost impossible to get around without a car. Remember that song, 'Nobody walks in L.A.'
I agree with all of the rest of your friends...we knew it would be hard to top the Caribbean!
Hope AZ. is fabulous.

hi
Sorry to hear that LA is such a hole. Never been to the States so can't really help you much. Anyway, it can't all be perfect. Where would be the fun in that?
Alcohol might help or does that cost a fortune out there? We've enjoyed reading your Travelpod too so Sam isn't the only one reading them!!
Keep smiling
Sara and Graham

Sam is not alone!
Hi Jackie

Sam is not alone! (if better at corresponding.)Have loved reading of your exploits and look forward to the post tour presentation including all your exciting purchases. Have not written before as everything sounds SO DULL in comparison and because composing a suitable response that doesn't come across as completely green with envy/bitter/twisted has been a challenge. Glad you are having a fab time though, current hostel aside (all character building stuff, What Ho!, Although I dare say you have decided that your character does not require any more building and is quite happy with luxury and decadence, thank you very much). Am contemplating a belated travelblog myself you know - The Journey North: Sleeper Train to Bonny Scotland ....... but don't hold you breath. This will not however include tales of daring-do, stunning accommodation, or exotic purchases (other than a tinned haggis - oh dear) but does include lots of wholesome Aga-cooked lardy food, sheep-herding and the birth of a calf (more moving than you'd think). Til then, live up to the part of 'grandma'and enjoy yourself by a)tutting loudly at the junvenille behaviour of the youth of today, b)behaving as mad excentirc English woman or c)drinking them under the table
Love
Rachel

Hey
Perhaps you should go to Hollywood, see if you get picked out in the street as a potential star, it'll get better you're just not in the right place yet.
Don't expect any sympathy from us trawling round Morrisons trying to find something 50% of the family will eat.
Hope tomorrow is a better day.
