This blog is way after the fact. But a good place to share my photos ...

Larry Mattingly and I went to Berlin Germany representing the Firelinx pyrotechnic firing system at the International Symposium on Fireworks from April 3-7 2006.

We were only able to get away from the convention briefly one afternoon but we were able to "see the sites".

There were a couple very nice fireworks shows and an intense meeting schedual.

We went to BAM where the Europeans test all kinds of things pyrotechic and explosive including but not limited to Fireworks, Automobile Air Bags etc.

They were testing what happened when stacked cases of fireworks ignight. They did two test for us . . one with cases of Rockets. VERY IMPRESIVE!

On a Symposium trip to BAM we passed through imaculate forest that made me imagine Hansel and Grettel fairy tails ..

We went to the National Museums where the Germans put all of the art that they
requesitioned durring their occupations of other contries including Greece and Egypt.
They had entire greek building clear down to the foundations rebuilt inside of their museums.

There was evidence of WWII everywhere. Berlin is only now rebuilding it's National Museums

Here are 4 parts to the closing nights fireworks by Parente. This is some of the most impresive choreography I have ever seen.

fireworks burnig
What actually happens when those cases of fireworks burn, do they just burn themselves out or do they start shooting off in every direction?

Fireworks burn test
It was very impressive. We had to stay a very long way away. And yes the fireworks were going every direction.

Not exactly 'pretty', it was more intense. To much smoke. Only took about 30 seconds for the whole thing to go as I recall, which would not have been much longer than a single roman candle. I assume the heat made it all go up faster than a single divice go off.

The testing facility was determining what would happen if storage areas had a fire. How far storage areas need to be away from each other.
