The rockets pictured with Jackie and Larry are NOT real rockets, but made great photo opportunities for the crowd of folks who came to see the fireworks.

While the "official" food/beverage line was to long for words, Larry and I went to a local vendor and had what I can honestly say was the best 3 euro hamburger I ever have eaten. The meat must have been veal or a beef/pork combination as it was moist and flavorful, with thin ham slices and your choice of bacon bits (more likely procsuto), lettuce, tomato, fried mushrooms, whole kernel corn (better than it sounds), grated fresh carrots and thin "extruded" salty potato chip like crunchy's, all on a huge soft white "Wonder Bread" style bun that you could squish down to get in your mouth, unlike the crusty bread that seems to be popular in America these days. The most unusual thing was the Mustard, Catsup and Mayo dispensers that gave me visions of milking cows.

The second rocket shot at Wednesday nights fireworks set the worlds record for the amount of Fireworks PAYLOAD lifted by a Fireworks Rocket. It lifted 13.6 K of pyrotechnics.

While there may be some debate as to weather it is the record or not, it did set the record for a rocket that the Guiness people were present and verified.

Larry Mattingly's comment on the rockets was "Last night's fireworks were a study in "old methodology".  That is the way it was done for hundreds of years.  The many hundreds of rockets functioned perfectly.  The headers were wonderful with lots of bright and intense colors.  However compared to todays displays the crowd of thousands were disapointed.  Rockets are slow, a bit dis-jointed in continuity of show and a bit unpredictable in the location of the bursts.  As a purist I enjoyed it emensely. It was obviously a lot of work and was very well done.  But I would not go back to that style of fireworks display for any reason."
