Our train ride to Zagreb, Croatia seemed really long. Maybe that was because we didn't have to change trains anywhere so we were just in one seat for hours. We had our first border crossing and control in over a month. We were a bit on edge when we realized that there was one though because we had forgot to check the visa requirements for entering Croatia. Luckily though Canadians don't need anything special for short visits so we were ok, otherwise that would have really been a pain!

When we got to Zagreb we stopped at the bus station on the way to our hostel to check out the buses for our trip to Plitvice Lakes for the next day. The guy I (Jackie) talked to though didn`t speak real good english though and I didn`t have the name of the exact stop we wanted (from directions from the hostel in Plitvice) so it was just wasted time and we decided to go to our hostel and use the internet to get the name of the stop before trying again.

Finding our hostel also turned out to be a little tricky as well. We went to the adress that was given when we booked but all we found was just someone`s house. We were really confused and thought maybe it was just close by and so we went to look around. A couple ladies saw us walking around confused and asked if we needed help. We showed the one lady the adress and asked if she knew of the place cz what we found was a house. She hadn`t heard of it and didn`t know the area but took us to go check at the house. She knocked and turns out it was the right place they just don`t have a sign or any indication that it was in fact a hostel! It was a little frustrating as it seemed like maybe they just don`t want people to find them and they just take the money when you don`t show up. We were also a little worried when we stepped in as we had to go through their porch into the back and was taken to a buidling behind their house. It turned out though that the rooms were actually alright and it seemed like they were just starting as a hostel. The second building in the back yard it looked like, was also being rennovated into more rooms. It definately wasn`t like any hostel we`ve stayed in so far. It was basically just double rooms in a building in someone`s yard. As long as we have a bed though and we feel safe then no big deal I guess.

After settling we went back to the train station to find internet (because the hostel didn`t have any) and to sort out our tickets. We got the name of the bus stop from the hostelworld listing for our next place and went to the ticket counters once more. The lady that I talked to this time said that the early bus that we wanted didn`t actually stop at the bus stop we needed but if we asked the driver they should stop for us; or we could take a later bus that was actaully scheduled to stop. We decided to buy the earlier ticket as we only had the one day to tour around the lakes and wanted to make it there by noon.

Because we were still in a boring state of mind we just went back to our room and watched a movie (we were lucky enough to have a tv in the room).
