When we left Kells we headed for Caherciveen where my parents phoned their car rental company to tell them about the little mishap, they were very understanding and said that there was nothing for us to worry about. After that was taken care of the lady at the information centre told us to go to Valencia Island because it was beautiful. So we took her word for it and caught the little ferry(5min) across and drove around the island. It was a very sunny and absolutely beautiful day out, which we counted ourselves lucky for being in Ireland and all.

We went to a granite quarry and climbed a huge hill to get a better view of the surrounding. The quarry has actually provided granite for Buckingham Palace, The Whitehouse and lots of government buildings all over the world. We then drove down a incredibly steep hill in order to get pictures of the islands lighthouse. We felt like kids jumping around and wandering all over the huge rocks on the bay.

We took a bridge off the island and stopped in Portmagee and had an amazing lunch of fish and chips. After lunch and on our way out of town we got somewhat lost trying to find the right road that would take us over the hills and  back to the Ring of Kerry, but after asking someone for directions we were soon on our way. Along the way around the ring we stopped a couple times to take pictures and take in the absolutely beautiful scenery. We stopped and spotted out a couple all rock islands that we had read about that have bee-hive shaped stone houses on them that I think monks used to live in; we were JUST able to make out what we thought was one of the huts through the telescope they had at the rest stop.

We decided that we were going to drive to Blarney so that we could kiss the Blarney stone in the morning. Just before we got to Blarney we stopped in a pub for a couple of beers once again and mom and dad started up a conversation with one of the locals whose Irish accent was of course worsened by the beer he had been in there drinking, classic. We stayed at the Blarney Woollen Mills hotel and it was the first real hotel we've stayed at since we started our trip; amazingly comfy bed and the first bath tub we've had since beginning our trip!! After Jackie let her excitement out about getting to take a bath for the first time in half a year mom bought her some bubble bath so she could soak up for awhile, which she says she very much appreciated!
