Of course we had the option to book a tour with our hostel to the warriors but from what we'd looked into it was extremely easy to do on your own. We just confirmed what bus we needed to take from the train station to the Terracotta Warrior Museum and then we hopped on a public bus to the station. The final stop on the bus to the museum, luckily, is the museum itself so that is why it's so easy to go without a tour....and much cheaper too. When we went to get tickets from the ticket booth of course there were plenty of people bugging us and asking if we need a guide, we just brushed them off and went on our way.
We had been told before going to make sure to do the pits backwards, so pit 3 then pit 2 and finally pit 1. It took us a couple mintues to figure out where each pit was but finally got our bearings and started to explore.
We gotta say we believe what we heard and read about the warriors being on of those sights that are over-advertised and therefore not as spectacular as you expect once you get there. What we didn`t realize was that the pits are only partially excavated at the moment, there are a lot less standing warriors than we expected and I think that`s where people are mislead by the hype. Don`t get us wrong though we definately enjoyed our visit there and the warriors are a really cool site to experience. We loved of course how no two sculptures are the same and how detailed they are.
They also have some museum exhibits where you can see some of the warriors up close in glass cases and also sculptures of animals and other things buried at the sites.
After a long hot day of wondering around the sites and museums we made our way back to take the bus back to town. Sadly as soon as we got on the bus and I looked in my purse and realized I had forgotten to get a picture with my shirt of Tanya and Glenda once again!! I swear I won't forget at the Great Wall!!
Once in town we decided to hit up the Papa John`s by our hostel for some pizza (we were surprised to see one there so figured we had to eat at it, haha).
