This day we decided to leave and not go kayaking partly because it's very expensive and partly because our legs were a bit tired from the day before and we didn't want to make our ENTIRE bodies hurt. So we went and picked up some groceries and then headed further past Abel Tasman to Golden Bay to maybe sit on the beach and do a tour (what we thought was a quadding tour) of the huge sand bar off the coast of Golden Bay. Turns out I (Jackie) just assumed in my head when I had read 4WD that it was quads when it was actually just mini 4WD bus tours.....definately not as exciting and so we opted just for the beach. Oh we also stopped at a spring which has some of the clearest freshest water in the world before heading to the beach. Our route there though (following our trusty GPS) ended up being some narrow gravel roads between farmer's fields and homes and then finally met up with the main road that came straight from town...stupid GPS.

Afterwards we drove again quite a ways down some long windy narrow roads (but still paved, not like the other path) and finally stopped in a bay that we had almost completely to ourselves and it was beautiful. We walked a little ways along the bay and found a spot sheltered in by huge rocks and laid down in the sun for awhile and read/napped. Then we went to walk around in the very shallow water and on the submerged sand from the tide being so low. I (Jackie) ended up finding a sand dollar and then James of course went on the hunt for some more and we ended up just wandering around for quite some time picking through the thousands of shells scattered all around and wading through the water. The other cool thing about the bay was that it sparkled! I touched my finger to the sand and took a look at it to figure out what the sparkle was from and there was a few tiny flakes on my finger that looked like gold, weird.

When we were all done basking and playing in the sun (tough work, really) we headed back out of the park and on our way towards Picton, where the ferry to the north island is and stopped along the way for the night.
