This day we planned to drive towards the Mildford Sound area and make plans to do a boat tour the next day. We drove pretty much non-stop all morning and ended up making it to the "access" town to Milford by noon. Being much earlier than we had thought we would be we contemplated doing the boat tour that afternoon, it was really cloudy and kind of raining so we weren't sure though. Finally after hearing that the waterfalls are more spectacular when it rains we decided to drive out there and catch a tour.

It was an awesome choice because the clouds ended up thinning out and the rained stopped and it was absolutely beautiful. The whole drive out I (Jackie) was trying to get decent pictures from the passenger seat while James was trying to get us safely through the mountain road in a timely manner so we could catch a tour around 3pm. On the way out there is a tunnel that you drive through that goes straight through one of the mountains and is pretty cool to experience in itself. After a gorgeous drive out there, with the clouds dispersing as we drove, we made it just in time to get tickets on a small cruis boat.

The cruise was great with of course amazing scenery and we also saw a couple groups of seals sunning themselves on the rocks. The tour boat took us all the way out to where Milford Sound meets the ocean and we got to experience some mildy rough swells for a bit that threw water over the front of the boat to where some of us were standing on a viewing platform (James and myslef included) get us a bit wet. The boat also took us up to a waterfall and warned anyone who didn't want to get wet that they were going to put the front of the boat into the fall and we should get inside, James of course stayed at the front of the boat with a few others leaving me inside to take the pictures.

On the return portion of the tour the sun was out even more and this was when the picture taking oportunity seemed to be the best...of course this is when the batteries in both our cameras died!! Lucky us though a guy we had been taking to from Toronto offered to take our picture (with his big fancy camera) and e-mail it to us. We just got a glimpse of it after on the camera screen and we're pretty sure it'll be the best picture we have of the boat trip!!

Afterwards we headed back down the windy mountain road and stopped at one of the many camping spots along the way for the night.
