Our first full day in KL started out in true Jackie 'n James style...we walked and walked and walked looking for the Scotiabank we had seen on our bus ride back to Chinatown the day before. We took a wrong turn and ended up going around an extra block filled with huge skyscrapers before we finally found it. Turned out though that they have no ATM's so the guy told us we couldn't get money out! Horrified at taking all that time to find it we went across the street to the local bank, grrr.

By this time (also because we had a late start but mostly cz we got lost trying to find the bank) it was mid-afternoon so we decided to do a walking tour of our own to see some of the sights we had circled on our KL map. On the way to the cluster of sights we were heading for we came across the Muzium Telekom and wandered in. It was nice to be out of the blistering sun and actually be seeing something but in short the museum was just a bunch of phones from the early days to the present. A very nice guy from the museum showed us around though and we found a little blurb about Alberta (our home province in Canada for those who aren't familiar) on a timeline bulletin! Pretty cool.

We then walked to Merdeka square, where we took pictures of St.Mary the Virgin's Cathedral, Jemak Mosque, Sultan Abduhl or something like that building, central market, and apperently the world's tallest flag pole. I've (James) seen bigger! We did all this while running from shadow to shadow as the sun was especially powerful, damn you global warming!!

We went back to our hotel got showered up and headed up to the roof for supper which is served every friday for free. While eating we could see the sky getting dark and knew there was a storm coming quick. We sat to one side of the rooftop and watched huged flashes of lightning for a while but there were also huge brownish ugly clouds moving over and in between the huge skyscrapers towards us so we finished up and headed in just as the rain came down.
