Flag of Philippines  , Luzon,
Wednesday, February 2, 2011

Our first night in the Philippine, we stayed at a little hole in the wall of a rat's nest called the Townhouse. We needed a place to catch a few hours sleep as we had an early morning flight to Dumaguete, on the south coast of Negros. The Townhouse is convenient and inexpensive, but to stay there again they'd need to pay me. It was maybe the worst place I've ever stayed. A good spot perhaps to commit suicide, it might help one along in their depression if they weren't fully commited to the act.

There's a massive shopping mall down the street and around the corner from the Townhouse. To get to it you must walk along a street that smells of urine. Once inside the mall it feels very post-apocalyptic. Every store in this once fancy building is padlocked. Instead of stores, the halls of the mall are filled with street vendors.

On our way back to the Townhouse we found out why the street we'd passed earlier smelled of urine. Over a one-hundred metre stretch we saw probably a dozen cab drivers stop for a whiz.
