Well here I am!

Nineteen days til I leave on my first grand adventure.

I have been getting very excited! Where I thought I would feel nervous, scared, and even regretful I instead feel calm, happy, proud, and... excited! I'm going to enjoy these last two+ weeks to the fullest and fill them with family, old and new friends, holiday spirit, my wonderful boyfriend, and all my favorite things about my life here in Massachusetts. Plus, this is one of my very favorite times of year. :-) I love my life, and lately I've been living with this aura of gratefulness and awareness of how lucky I am to have this amazing opportunity to travel!

The Advent season is here and the New Year (2010 already!?!) is coming...what better time to prepare myself for a new chapter of my life? I'm taking baby steps to push the negativity and negative influences out of my life and focus on the positivity, hopefully attracting more beautifulness as I do so. ("Beautifulness" is Neil's word and my new favorite concept.... you'll see what it is as I go along here in this blog!) I am looking at my four months in Costa Rica as not only a physical journey but a personal one as well..  I don't want to say spiritual journey because that's such a cliché, so a personal journey it is! I'm ready to step away from my everyday routines and interactions in the society and culture that I'm used to, learn about a new way of living and thinking, and most of all use my newfound freedom as a chance to really be alone with my mind and get to a calm and centered place. Out with the party lifestyle for a little bit (even though I lovelovelove UMass and my friends there) and in with a more balanced and meditative way of living. Most of all I'm looking forward to being connected to nature as much as possible, which is my favorite way to be (one of the reasons why I love Norwich so much.) My time in Costa Rica I'm considering to be "healthy body and healthy mind" time.... so, of course, I can't wait to begin this journey!

Right now it's all about looking ahead to the future and mentally preparing myself so that I avoid stress and lonliness, and allow myself to be peaceful and positive.  It's also about appreciating everything (and everyone) that I have here in Massachusetts.

Life is beautiful!
