Today was a long day. We drove down to Manitoulin Island and across it, then took a ferry across Lake Huron to the Bruce Peninsula. The ferry is called the Chi-Cheemaun which means 'Big Canoe' in Ojibway. It took nearly two hours to cross the lake. Then it was a long slow drive along the lake through lots of small towns. Everything is greener on this side, because the leaves haven't started turning yet. We eventually cut down to the 401, where the driving became much faster. Jen's godmother left her an antique desk which has been in the care of her niece for several years, so this was an opportunity to pick it up. We weren't sure how it was going to fit in the van, but it was no problem at all. It just means an end to sleeping in the van from now on. We picked it up around 7:00 then still had to drive over two hours to Jason's uncle's place in Cambridge. But we made it and had an excellent sleep in a real bed.
