We are heading back into New York!! We take the train from Rahway after breakfast and head to the Big Lights - we are going to Penn Station and then New York we chug along reading and chatting until BANG!! we get stopped at a station and informed that a train had broken down at Penn so we would be delayed 90 Minutes or we could change at the next stop once we were allowed to go there. 2 trains to New York two delays there is a pattern forming but we keep it to ourselves - To be honest the people here seem to be in much less of a rush than us and are also a hell of a lot more friendly and polite on the whole helping others with bags and starting conversations with strangers. We are planning on going to central park and rain is forcast for later with tomorrow being worse so we decided to have a chill day tomorrow and do New York today but the delay will have an effect. 1 hour later we was on another train heading to 33rd street as a detour. We hit the first shop out the station a JC Penny heading into the watch section we were accosted by Juan the sales guy to whom we chatted for about 45 minutes and bought a watch. Juan told us about Atlantic city a 3 hour drive and all about the fantastic things we could do there it sounds fantastic... Soooo we have a day and a half left, Atlantic city is 3 hours away we still want to do Central park. Hmmm "Can we change our car and flights we wonder" Reality where we sometimes visit hits us and we decide maybe next time!!
We head up 5th Avenue to find FAO Swartz and the rain comes and comes and comes and comes!! people were running for cover Umbrella sales men appeared from nowhere and all hell broke loose in New York, we were told later that "Its never THIS bad" It rained straight for 5 hours and heavy too the streets were paved with water. Now i don't think we mentioned but Helens Phone passed away following the ride on Codzilla in Boston and depite it being in a bag in a bag in my ruck sack mine died in the New York downpour of 9th August, we have never been so wet dressed infact i do not think I have been wetter even in a bath but we got to Central Park and despite being the only ones in site had a stroll round.. (we are watching chitty bang bang now.. Brown just asked me was this filmed in America or here!! Durrrrrrr - where are we again Brown!!) we found a heater that came out the ground from a building in the park (the zoo building) and huddles nt to it, it was strange the heat blowing out was dryer than the rain pouring on us and we started to dry out a tiny bit but had to head off.. Ok I been looking for some unique and unusual trainer for a few days now I was thinking a yellow or bright red and we came across a footlocker (massive stores here) nope no luck then a DR Jays and Oh my I hit lucky Brown had bought 2 pairs some days back now it was my turn. there was Red, yellow, Purple, Blue, Orange even some black and white ones I had squelchie feet and soaked socks but they opened up a pack of socks and let me wear them to try the trainers.. Memories of Thailand came back to me and i asked for a discount if I got two pairs (even though one paiur was already down from $149.99 to $79) and was told I could have 10%.. I know you all want to know what colours I got..  Well you will have to come visit us in Sleaford and find out!!

Wet and tired we headed back to Rahway where we Jacuzzi'd (its a tough life) changed clothes and headed off to Wal-mart for some dinner it was self service night sofa film and microwave meals - we got some drinks and Sweet Potato's along with micro meals and settled in for the night. Ahhh another great long filled day.
