So, I arrived in Paris and turned 29 almost simultaneously.  At first we had another little airport adventure because our luggage was sent on an earlier Continental flight to Paris.  At least it was there.  It arrived before we did.  However, we did have to trek to a whole other terminal, requiring us to take a rail tram, and then we circled around perplexed over where we were to claim the bags.  We finally figured it out, and our shuttle service was out awaiting us.  Needless to say, after the stress of air travel, we had an exceptionally relaxing drive into Paris.  Okay, well, our driver did nearly run over a poor Parisian man on a bicycle, but other than that, the drive was stress free.

Our room at the Hotel Caron de Beaumarchais was ready upon our arrival, so we immediately rode the lift to our charming room and took showers.  My how good the water felt!  My how great it felt to be clean!

Since it was my birthday, Philip handed me the reigns to determine exactly what I wanted to do on our brief moment in Paris.  He was so incredibly sweet!  So, I decided I wanted to climb the Arc du Triomph for a spectacular 360 degree view of the city.  We climbed what felt to be a million stairs, spiral, narrow, with wrought iron railings to the top.  We made our way around the perimeter of the structure, viewing the avenues which all seemed to exit the base of the arc in spokes.  I saw the Palais Garnier, Sacre Couer, as well as the towers of Notre Dame, all from this one location.

When we returned to the earth, we ambled down the famous Champs Elysees, where we found a really cool men's wear shop, and I twisted Phil's arm into purchasing a couple of tre chic french men's shirts.  Then, I perused the racks of Esprit and The United Colors of Benneton.  I finally made some selections at Zara and GAP before we headed to the Pont Neuf for a Seine River cruise.  We partook of this attraction twice during our last visit to Paris, and I must say, it never gets old.

Then, we pushed our tired bodies forth to the amazing Sorza restaurant on Ile Saint Louis.  The food was delectable.  I finished my meal with the best birthday chocolate mousse a 29 year old could ever hope for.  Thanks to my Philly, I had the best birthday ever!
