All i can say is "WOW". that sums up the state of origin in one word. not only was it a GREAT game, but it was intense from the crowd, from the players, even from the under 19 players that took to the field in a warm up game to the big one. this is why you could learn to love rugby. it reminds me of soccer and hockey combining to make one sport. the simplicity of soccer with the intensity, hard hitting and fights of hockey all in one game! it definately was a game that lived up to its hype. this is a quick blurb from www.nrl.com about the game:

NSW halfback Brett Finch has kicked a last-minute field goal to lead the Blues to a thrilling 17-16 victory against Queensland in the opening game of the State of Origin league series at Telstra Stadium

Finch, who was only drafted into the Blues squad late on Tuesday night to replace injured halfback Craig Gower, also scored one try and had a hand in two others to get the Blues home.

The victory keeps NSW's unbeaten record at Telstra Stadium intact.

it was great. a last minute kick to win it, a few fights in the big game, a all out brawl in the U-19 game, a few fights in the stands, and YES, i was wearing my queensland shirt!!!

that is about all i have to say about the game. Great game and great atmosphere made for a hell of a night.
