We booked a shuttle through the Montezuma Info office at the top of the hill for $45 each which included a van to the ferry, transferred on the ferry and then another shuttle on the other side to Montezuma. The ride was about an hour longer than normal because the more direct ferry was broken. We took advantage of the sun, lathered up and baked on the deck. The ride was long but the ferry was enjoyable enough, despite blaring techno music.
The Amor de Mar was perfect. By far the nicest kept place we saw in town and not as far a walk as they made it sound. The half a dozen hammocks, river and ocean swimming and nice patios made us glad we decided to live it up for our last spot. We stayed in room six which had a semi private patio, screened windows and no AC. It was hot but the room had a fan and the sound of the ocean made it worth it.
Day one we hiked the twenty minutes to Montezuma Falls which consists of a great, rugged, trail and three cascading waterfalls. We swam in all three and I fell repeatedly from the rope swing.
The next morning we set out early up the beach to "El Charro". It's supposed to be some massive waterfall that pours out into the ocean, but apparently dry season took its toll because massive it was not. However, the two hour hike was beautiful and we spent most of it with no one else in sight. Got to see a ton of crabs, lizards, birds and even managed to finally see some monkeys. (I've been obsessed about seeing monkeys since Belize.)
