On Wednesday Kate and I decided to take a day trip to Niagara Falls.  We opted for hiring a car rather than a set tour as having a car gave us freedom to explore Niagara Falls and the surrounding area.

Driving on the right hand side of the road on a highway is quite scary..... even worse when Kate is your passenger but we managed to get there in one piece.

Niagara Falls is a beautiful sight.  There are many tours to do in and around the area - we chose the boat ride on Maid of the Mist.  The boat takes you within meters of the falls - hence the blue ponchos - otherwise we would have been drenched.

After the boat trip we walked across the bridge that joins the USA to Canada but didn't enter the states as they wanted to charge us - something about a ginger tax - not amused!!!!

Niagara town center is not dissimilar to Blackpool for five year olds - full of fast food joints and amusement rides but still good to see.

After lunch we drove through the wine lands to Niagara-on-the-Lake.  This is a very picturesque village set on the shores of Lake Ontario.  Wednesday was a clear day and from one of the photos you can see the Toronto sky line.

Arrived back in Toronto to a massive gas leak that shut down half the city.  We have now survived a gas leak, G20 protests and an earthquake - what next?????

You lucky devils to be where we were a couple of years ago - enjoy the falls & take a ride on the boat in the mist of the falls which goes to the base of where the water lands - it's amasing!! Good to see your advance!!!
