Hello,

so the last three days we spend in Sao Paulo - apparently Rio is the big Brazilian city of party and Sao Paulo the city of hard work ..! Either way, it is a city where you need a locally living friend to find your way around in a pleasant way. Only Thursday late afternoon we arrived in SP and we decided to explore a little bit from the SPs main historic square Se, but after we emerged from the tube station, we went back in 3 minutes as we were engulfed with homeless people of all ages and the vast number of police officers wasn't really comofrting either.

Then we tried another tube stop, Liberdade, to try some sushi (which seemed like a good choice as a. we had spent our last 2 weeks eating at least 2 pounds of beef each and b. the Japanese immigrants make sure there is an abundant choice of good quality sushi places in SP). We lasted 10 minutes and decided to head back to the hotel (more homeless people, this time agressively yelling at us). With blond hair and blue eyes and Ivo in a light pink Ralph Lauren polo t-shirt and his wallet and phone bulging out of his pockets (I really should have changed outfit...), we did not look like locals apparently - we got stared at quite a bit! The Novotel chicken dish was not as bad as expected though ... ;)
We met our friend Imke the next day, who told us the areas are fine during the day but we were right not to walk around in these areas during dark! So it wasn't just us being whimps ... Anyway, after making us green with envy of her penthouse appartment with a rooftop terrace 4x the size of our London flat, she took us to a very cool bar on the roof top of Hotel Unique and after that we went for some Picanha, which was delicious!

Saturday morning we spent exploring a little more in SP and went to Mercado Municipal where we tasted all sorts of fruits we'd never seen in our lives but were delicious and accidentally bought a few outraguously expensive fruits (don't know what they are called, but at least they are very tasty) and went on a comfy 7 hour bus ride to Curitiba ... We have a nice apartment here and will do our laundry here - so just some household chores which we wont bore you with ..!

Cheers!
Ivo & Annemieke

p.s. no pics this time as we didn't take any, except for some of the marketplace. Although we should have taken some of the views from Imke and Mel's place, but we didn't bring the camera that evening...
