It is not in my nature to sit on a beach. I tried it today and got bored in ten minutes. Luckily there's a beach bar the Lazy Lizard at the split (the island is split in half, most everything is on the Southern portion) on
Caye Caulker. From the Lizard, you can watch the kite surfers sail, the Frigates steal food from the hands of tourists, the Frigates poop on the tourists or the tourists get trashed at the "in-ocean" cocktail tables. When I come back here again I will sit at one of these tables and have cocktails, but since I left the dry bag at home, it seemed to risky to mix camera - alcohol - and ocean in too close of proximity. The Lazy Lizard is a good spot to wind away a few afternoon hours, good people watching and the requisite retired expat to tell you stories or talk politics.
Drink specials abound at two for $5 BZ, so even though they're pretty bad tasting drinks (I'm an admitted cocktail snob), you can drink here on a tight budget!
