The only reason im even getting to update this is Michelle is a little poorly after a night on Bourbon Street last night so we are taking it easy today.. had to move into a new hotel this afternoon though which was a struggle, topped off by an overly chatty cab driver..  but i managed to drag myself to the rooftop pool... swan into the free internet room and of course eat. Speaking of eating.. I managed in another New Orleans 'must do' by eating the beignets at Cafe du Monde this morning.. whats one more day with a donut for breakfast!!

So far here, aside from lots of eating, we have held a baby alligator (which freaked me out! crazy people touching reptiles!! Anita will be proud) and went on an airboat, which was fun and fast, and toured a swamp. We have been on a paddle steamer, lazed by the riverside, sang karaoke, listened to jazz, been on a streetcar, ate, ate, ate and ate some more. Toured the French Quarter, especially as it was on our doorstep and visited a museum.  It had a display called 'Katrina plus 5' which showed the same locations then and now, amazing to see. Also had a lot of first hand accounts of those who were here which were hard to listen and hear.

The first morning Michelle we arrived got us a little lost and we walked for quite some time through the poorer suburbs.. when she was trying to take us to the mansions - when we got there finally what a difference! We stalked Ann Rices house and then walked some more. Got to get rid of that donut for breakfast somehow! Oh and buffet for lunch.. We tried gumbo (ick) and a few other odd dishes, but gumbo was the winner for the worst.

I am soooo very proud. And it only took 15 years or so....
