As a kid I remember the excitement of crossing a state border in Australia, it seemed such an exotic thing, hurridly eating all the fresh food in the car so we didnt have to throw it at the border.. There are a few photos of me with my teddy bears at state border crossings which still prompt my parents to occasionally reminisce about "Bears at the Border", ah dont you love parents who never forget anything you did!
This border run was a lot less fun, possibly as it took us about an hour to do it! They were searching a lot of cars in front of us and the wait in the hot sun took ages. We managed to shave a bit of time off by stopping off at the duty free store and coming into the queue later, must remember this for every visit, not that we need any encouragement on budget shopping.
As soon as we crossed the border we stopped off for lunch and I felt very American as I ordered fried steak and pancakes. We managed to see Emily for a quick visit and stopped at the outlet mall and then had to turn around and head back for Saturday nights out.
Visa waiver form handed back in and my first ever visa run completed.
