There was a mountain bike fest on and crazy mountain biking types were barreling down the hill at crazed speeds so we watched that for a while and just wandered around the town. Unfortunately I had only had about four hours sleep so there wasn't too much activity from me.
We have planned many future visits up to Whistler as they have a huge range of fun time activities (aside from the obvious one - skiing!) like horse riding, white water rafting and a skyline (like a flying fox). The most adventurous activity I undertook on Sunday though was driving. Yes they finally got me behind the wheel. I made Brad drive out of town though and refused to drive anywhere but on the freeway, straight no turns. An odd experience to be on the wrong side of the car - topped with my not having driven since Scotland two years ago, meant much granny driving from Em. On arriving back to Vancouver my flatmate told me that I had driven on one of the most dangerous roads in BC.
The scenery on the road was quite pretty, and though I have been raving about how beautiful Vancouver is the drive back into Vancouver was even lovelier. Water and mountains do seem to make for some stunning views. Astoundingly, being that it's the middle of summer here, several of the mountains still have snow on top of them. We looked at each other with fear in our eyes as we began to contemplate just how cold it's going to be here in Winter.
We asked the first Australian we came across (so that took about two seconds) if there was any Vegemite - there is no Vegemite in Whistler either. The no Vegemite crisis worsens. I have pleadingly emailed my mother to rescue me from the Vegemite drought and constantly check the mailbox for delivery. Im consoling myself with Cupcakes..
