We drove up to Grouse Mountain which is not so far out of the city and had a look at the Grouse Grind, a walk up the mountain that takes about 90 minutes and is nothing but stairs. We walked a bit of it but didn't go too far but will do it one day when we are slightly more prepared. There is also a cable car up the mountain but the walk is quite well known around here and we dont want to be marked out as tourists. From what we did see on the walk though there were lots of signs warning of bears! We didnt get to see any though.
We drove (noticing a driving theme?) to Stanley Park on Sunday which is a giant park just off downtown Vancouver. It has lots of tall trees and a lovely walk along the seawall. The walk around is 7kms around which should indicate how big a park it is. There's also a free shuttle bus around the park and we got a lady bus driver and when we drove past a young lad rollerblading around shirtless our driver pointed out that there was always lovely scenery in Stanley Park..
