A trip back to Edinburgh to celebrate New Years and my birthday 05, no comments being made but it falls on the THIRD of January (every year).

We went up here for the famed Hogmany, Edinburgh's street party. Now, remember I lived in Japan so you would think I would be used to large crowds of people, but Hogmany was just nuts. We lost half our group because two of them got pushed out of the street by hustling crowds, and security wouldn't let them back in that gate, so they had to be fetched. Terrorism fears led to a diminished fireworks display (and sharpshooters on the roofs!), but what was lit was from the Castle so was lovely to see, and of course I like a firework!

For Hogmany there was a little fair in town, so I made Adrian go up on the Ferris Wheel. Now Scotland is cold at the best of times, but add winter and an open Ferris wheel - brr. Im not sure that was one of my best ideas!

We also made it to the Rosslyn Chapel, a beautiful old chapel with a bit of conspiracy theory surrounding it. It is also the chapel that a Dan Brown novel suggests the "holy grail" is at.
