From the land of Coffee I then bused it further north to Pablo Escobar's Medellin. A really nice city with year round spring temperatures and no cartels of note running amok in the city. The city has plenty to offer culturally and warrants a few days of cruising around. Though I am not the worlds greatest art connoisseur the Botero museum (Colombia's most famous artist who likes to paint everything in very chubby form) was a real highlight. The nightlife is also known to be some of Colombia's finest and though I had a good time, the one club where everyone was chasing each other around whilst dressed up in crab and geese costumes was a bit much for me.

The next day I ventured outside the city to a lake retreat on which still sits some of Pablo's bombed out summer palaces. The man made lake reminded me very much of Lake Bunyoni in Uganda and was muy lindo. The center piece of the area however was a giant monolith perched on the banks of the lake that afforded spectacular views.

I also found an expat bar that had the NBA finals that thankfully allowed me to see the manhandling of the Lakers in game 6.
