Arequipa is a beautifully city with a glorious backdrop of mountains and volcanoes. I walked around the historic city center gazing upon churches monasteries and mansions all constructed of white volcanic rock giving the city its very distinct feel. The added touch of the garbage trucks blaring Mozart to let you know of their approach just adds to the city's ambiance as well. The Plaza De Armas (the city centers focal point) is the most beautiful South American plaza I have seen so far and a great place to eat prickly pears, drink Chicha and people watch. Kept myself busy for a few days before grabbing a bus to Cabanaconde to access the worlds deepest canyon.

Hey Bob - So am I to understand that you entered a blog and the computer went on the fritz? If that's the case that explains why I can't see any new pics. But I'm loving the other pics and entries. Especially the shots with the mountains and lakes. Amazing. When are you coming back, anyway? Happy trails. -Pete
