A month before we left we did not know we were going.  But Patrick Stewart reprising his solo performance of A Christmas Carol was enough to get us interested.  Booking a room at the Randolph in Oxford was enough to get us committed.  And getting two of the final six tickets at the Royal Albert Hall to see John Rutter's Christmas Concert was over the top.  Then to connect in Hove with Shirley and Mick was frosting on the cake.  A blizzard in Chicago, fog in London, dusk in Oxford, room reservation difficulties near Victoria and a refinery explosion did not even dent our enjoyment.  We never even had time for jet lag.
