Turns out we didn't go to Mirissa like planned, there didn't seem any point once we found out the whale watching trips were 60 dollars... So we came directly here, to Yala National Park. We ended up following one of the touts that got on the bus and took us to his hotel. We don't normally but the room was cheap and clean. They also offered us a safari around the park, which we took. We wanted to shop around but to be honest, really couldn't be bothered and it wasn't that expensive. The plus was also that the jeep would pick us up at 5 am, instead of 5.30 like the others were. That way, we got to the park extra early, and more chance of spotting some wildlife.

However when our jeep still wasn't there at 5:15, we started worrying. The guy we had paid claimed to be the brother of the hotel manager but we didn't have a name, a number, id details or even a receipt. Luckily, it turned up 5 minutes later, having broken down but it defintely made us realize we have to be more careful in the future....

The safari actually turned out really well. We got to see a leopard (really rare to see), water buffalo, crocodiles and even an elephant! IT was amazing! However, we were supposed to have an animal tracker with us, which if we had, would have been able to spot animals better than our driver. he was nice but we only saw animals when we came across a parked jeep and looked at what they were pointing their cameras at.

Either way, the whole day went perfectly and we really enjoyed ourselves!
