What an experience we had today! We were picked up at the hotel dock and taken out to the barrier reef "Hol Chan Marine Reserve". We were a bit underwhelmed with the snorkling there (except for the big turtles). It didn't compare to the diversity we saw on the Carribean islands (St. Thomas, Antigua, etc) or any of the Hawaiian Islands. But Shark Ray Alley made our day! The guides throw food into the water and the nurse sharks come right up to the boat the instant it gets there knowing that there will be food. Again not a huge diversity of fish but some of the sharks were huge and the Rays were plentiful. The guides picked up a ray so everyone could feel it. Sam dove down and touched one of the sharks. We are getting brown as coconuts (which there are a lot of here by the way). No pictures today, Sam took some with an underwater camera but discovered when we got back of the boat that the casing had let water in so I'm sure the pictures are ruined. We are going to Mexico Rocks tomorrow for more snorkling.
