Back in Athens a comfortable 82 and sunny. We are making our turn for home. Eleven days left and we have chosen to circle Kosovo and make a run for Saltzburg, Austria. We made only one stop today, to check out a series of spectacularly perched monestarys in the Metoria area. Looking forward to coming home so we will try to cover big miles, stopping occasionly to see something like the monesterys. We went inside one and it had great views and a chapel with crazy paintings on the walls. Women getting their breasts cut off, beheadings, strange devil-dragons. Crazy stuff. Today is May day and it was difficult to find any gas stations, stores, or restaurants open. People were picnicking everywhere in this part of Greece that closely resembles Oregon in the high country (pine trees) and as we reached our Hotel it looks a lot like Tuscany. We are at the base of Mt.Olympus, and rolling green hills fall a mile or so to the sea. We are in a beautiful Hotel. It's new and nearly empty. Had fresh red scallops on pasta here. Good stuff.
