From Nerja we headed North into the Siera Mountains to a high plateau. Even the road kill here is different. We saw a small dead pig on the side of the road. Long spines of glistening snow topped the mountain range but the land is arid and desert like with cactus as we drive toward Granada. We had two problems in Granada. The first was the Alhambra was sold out for the day by noon. The second was the hotel we had booked via Priceline.com the night before was in an area I wouldn't enter in broad day light with an uzi. Even faithful Bruja refused to give us the exact position of the hotel. The streets she said to turn on did not exist and she kept us going around in circles. We finally gave up out of frustration and not liking the area anyway. Not wanting to wait all afternoon, we drove to our next destination 1 hour away, Guadix (the city of Trogdolytes).
