Heaven's Gate RV Park

We have been to La Penita before, so we call the Little Rig RV Park to make a reservation for this week, but they were full. They gave us the phone number for Heaven's Gate, right next door, that was empty. We said we would stop over and have a beer together and she said "you better".

We reserved a week, the caretakers of Heaven's Gate met us at the gate on Monday. They had to hold up an electrical line to let us in. Drew, a Canadian here, he was renting the casita. He had been here for two months and was leaving on Wednesday. We got along great with him, his politics leaned the same way as ours. We ended up spending the rest of the day with him, eventually walking downtown for a late lunch, came back to the campground and drank a few beers. We were sorry that he was leaving so soon.

Little Rig campground next door has a palapa out front toward the water. They have happy hour out there every evening. We picked up our chairs to carry them over to join them and we were told that the happy hour was only for the paying guests of Little Rig RV Park. So much for that. We have our own happy hour every night we sit on the patio up toward the ocean to watch the sunset.

La Penita is a real Mexican town, they do not even have a supermarket here, just small markets and separate meat markets, bakery etc. Thursday is Market day. Many vendors come to town and sell all kinds of food, clothing, pottery, plastics including Tupperware, jewelry, blankets, trinkets, everything you could think of. One lady only sells bras, she has a huge assortment. We will take pictures next Thursday.

Last Thursday we had visitors from Puerto Vallarta, Don and Marguerite took a bus up here to visit us at La Penita.  We walked through the Market quickly and picked up a few things, we had lunch and we walked back to the campground. It was fun to see them again.

We like it here, the ocean is warm and refreshing. The waves are too big for swimming, we just jump around in the waves. We are going to stay here another week and leave on Monday, March 24th.
