These words of Bob Dylan ring true this month.

We arrived here at Paradise South on October 24th, we filed a claim with the insurance company for the accident we had in Dallas to get our motorhome fixed and on our way to Mexico. We never imagined that we would still be here on Dec. 10th. Having a motorhome repaired is not anything like a car.

First we had to find a collision shop that would work on a motorhome, the insurance company helped us with that and we were fortunate enough to find one fairly close. Then there were two fifth-wheel RVs ahead of us that needed repair. The owner of the repair shop talked to them and they allowed us to go ahead of them because they were going to be here in the Rio Grand Valley all winter. Now all we have to do is get the insurance company to approve the estimate and the work will begin, NOT.

The basements (outside storage) doors and frames plus the back outside wall must be ordered from Winnebago. The local dealer worked with Winnebago to get the prices for the parts, this took almost a week, now the repair shop had to present the estimate to the insurance company for approval, they complained about the $32 per hour charge for labor, he reduced it to $28, but they are still complaining, we have not received word of their approval yet.

The other major hurdle is that Winnebago does not stock parts, they are all custom made and take about a month to complete. Fortunately for us the collision shop went ahead and ordered the parts about a week ago.

Our best case scenario is that the approval and the parts will arrive in one or two weeks and two weeks later we will be on the road. That would be somewhere in the middle of January, but we are not holding our breath.

Now we are stuck here and the weather has turned unseasonably cold. We are forced to remain inside the motorhome with the furnace on. It is very small in here. We spend most of our time on our computers. Our only transportation is the scooter and it is too cold to ride it now. We have begun ordering products online, it has become one of our favorite things to do. They will deliver them to our door and we don't have to get cold.

So far we have purchased many things, we both had to order goggles for riding on the scooter, because we both left ours at home. Without a windshield, it is really nice to have goggles to keep the bugs and wind out of our eyes.

One day we were going to the store, as soon as we left the gate the
throttle cable snapped on the scooter. We pushed it back to our spot and were forced
order a new throttle over the internet, it arrived in four days. Bill
had to tear the whole scooter apart to put the new one on, but when he
did, it worked perfectly. He did have a few screws leftover and a couple
of big bolts, those I worry about.

We bought a dash cam because if we had had one on during our accident, we would have proof that it wasn't our fault. But, now we are not traveling.  Bill set it up on the dash, put on the motion sensor so it would only take pictures when something was moving outside. He left it on all night so we could see what happens here while we are sleeping. A few cars went by, some people walking their dogs, not much else. We look forward to some exciting pictures while we are on the road.

Then we watched 60 Minutes one night and was introduced to the GoPro3 video camera. We just had to have one for taking all of our action shots. Actually we were thinking of our snorkeling adventures because it is waterproof. We took it to the pool and filmed ourselves underwater, that was worth a laugh. When we attached the GoPro to the
scooter it vibrated a lot because the front parts were not as secure as
before, plus there was that accident when Bill hit the deer in 2012. He
duct taped it tight and it is working fine now. That is not a bad idea
since we are taking it to Mexico, it won't look so appealing to steal.

Bill actually found a computer online that has the Windows 7 operating system. He just had to have one, he never liked the Windows 8. He really likes the new one, now he can also play games and we have a spare along with us.

We also bought things for the motorhome, most importantly, tire monitors. We have needed these for awhile, every year we blow a tire or two in Mexico. They were a challenge to install, it took us awhile to get them all programed correctly, we think we have it right. As soon as we get on the road we will know for sure. They tell us the tire temperature and tire pressure, a buzzer goes off if they get too hot or the pressure is too low.

We ordered a Fantastic Fan for the motorhome to replace the one we have. Because it will be much quieter and it has a rain sensor on the vent cover that will close if it starts to rain. But Bill ordered the wrong one, it was a kit that came without a fan and motor so we sent it back. That was last month and now he ordered it again. Yesterday it arrived and still no fan motor or fan. We hope the third time will be the charm.

Finally our retail therapy reached it's height. After checking out Larry and Laura's remote vacuum cleaner, we just had to have one. It works great, as you can see on our video.

We finally got a date for our repairs and plane tickets back to Michigan. We will leave here on January 6th and return on January 20th. They promised us that it will be completed.

Hopefully we will get out of here with some money left over. Then we can post of our travels and not just getting by in the motorhome.
