  Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa, Mexico

OK so my Michigander friend (Anne) and I decided it was time to get a tan, so we headed for the beautiful resort of Zihuatanejo. No for those of you not in the know, Zihuatanejo...or Zih as it's know to locals.....lies west of Acapulco on the Pacific coast in the state of Guerrero. Apparently this was the beach which was the location for the final scene in the movie 'The Shawshank Redemption'. And I tell you, it was every bit as beautiful.

Unlike it's neighbour, Zih is a tranquil hideaway resort with a population of about 6000 and it really is heaven. The beaches are beautiful, the people are friendly and charming and the two or three bars are really cool. Beware though, as small and friendly equals expensive, especially the food, needless to say the seafood was every bit worth it.

We mosied on over to a different beach everyday taking in the sights of Ixtapa (neighbouring resort) on the way. We went snorkelling, sunbathing, drinking, eating, and that's about it. Oh yeah, alot of sleeping too!
