LONG drive today - 600+ miles from Grand Canyon, via Sedona to San Diego. I'm gonna have one more whinge about drivers here - they speed - I'm doing 75mph in a 70 zone, and there are cars overtaking me by a long way.. maybe the speed limit is a MINIMUM speed! Then you have the intersections where you have stop signs on each of the 4 streets. How do you decide who goes? Whoever gets there first. What sort of law is that? Last one.. I promise - NO INDICATORS! EVEN ON ROUNDABOUTS! So with the speeding, and the not knowing who goes first, the impatient drivers and the other side of the road thing - they also don't tell you where they are planning to turn. Ok.. venting over.
Sedona was pretty - red rocks and a nice little street with shops and galleries. Stopped here for breakfast which was big enough that I couldn't finish it and that I didn't need lunch.
Back on the road, which had fairly unexciting scenery apart from cactuses (cactii?! whatever).
Stopped at Yuma and went to a Wal-mart, just because, and guess what.. it looks like K-mart :) Coming out of Yuma were the sand dunes where Return of the Jedi was apparently filmed. We finally saw a sunset to speak of, from the car!
Arrived in San Diego at about 8pm. Too tired to do anything other than veg out in front of the tv - I think I'm addicted to Law and Order :) Interesting thing about tv is the advertisements for drugs, which apparently have to include all the disclaimers in the ad. So you have something that starts with: "do you have COPD?" and then "blah blah.. this drug is really good and will fix you up.. etc." and then ends with.. "this drug may cause you to lose a kidney. If this happens stop using the drug and contact your doctor..." or something to that effect :)
San Diego zoo tomorrow!
