Checked out of the hotel today to head off to Napa. Had to fill up the gas tank - untrusting americans make you pay for the petrol before you can activate the pump! Too bad.. if you're like us.. who don't know how much it will take for the tank to be full.. seems you have to leave your credit card with them first, or else pay them in cash and go back and get a refund if it's too much.. what a pain.
Headed off to Alamo square to look at some of the renovated Victorian houses.. pretty colours :)
Then we drove across the Golden Gate Bridge. Much like the Sydney Harbour Bridge, you have to pay to get into the city but not out, so lucky us. Traffic was also quite light going out of the city. Stopped off to take some more piccies. So far, driving has been ok.. only ended up on the wrong side of the road twice :) Repeat after me.. turn left onto the RIGHT side of the road!!
Drove down the highway to Napa, took about an hour or so. Stopped at 2 wineries along the way.. Robert Mondavi, who is the "grand-daddy" of wine in California - and also Domaine Chandon (yes.. we have one of those in the Yarra Valley as well.. but I LOVE sparkling wine!). 2 tours, 2 tastings and a couple of bottles of wine later, we checked into our hotel.. which unfortunately DOESN'T have wireless internet!!!!
