Flag of Grenadines/St Vincent  , Grenadines,
Tuesday, February 7, 2012

We left Chatham Bay to head round to the other side of Union Island to the port of Clifton Harbour.  It was here we intended to check out of the Grenadines and head down to Grenada.  But we needed firstly to get some provisions and we were very low on fresh water.

The town was again ver colourful and charming but buying the basics is not easy.  Fruit and vege stalls were dotted around the centre part but everything seemed very expensive.  Buying meat is restricted to frozen goods and mainly chicken and pork.  We are eating less and less meat and trying not to dream about a nice juicy steak or a bit of roast lamb.   A lot of the cheese and butter are imported  with the New Zealand Anchor brand, so we are getting a little taste of home.

The Yacht Club resort near the anchorage was an interesting place to tie the dinghy up as they had a shark pool as a local attraction.  These guys have already escaped once when hurricane Ivan blew through, but they looked docile enough while we were watching them.

With our daily morning Radio Net we have been keeping tabs on our cruising friends and it seemed as though the old Marmaris crowd were all heading to the Tobago Cays.  Well we couldn't let them all get together without us, so in the most appalling rain storm we set off to head the 5 miles back north to the Tobago Cays.

Back up into the wind again................but it was worth it.  For two nights we partied up with Miss Molly, Awaroa, and Matador.  A year has gone by since we were all wintering in Marmaris in Turkey and talking about getting together in the Caribbean, and here we all were doing just that.
It was a great feeling of accomplishment for all of us.
