Flag of Grenadines/St Vincent  , Saint Patrick,
Saturday, January 21, 2012

We made great time from St Lucia to St Vincent.  With two reefs in the main and full genoa we were flying along in a good stiff breeze.  One thing we are learning here.........you've always got wind. Especially between the islands and with a good Atlantic swell we were catching some good waves as well.  We also caught a nice big Wahoo.  This fed us several meals as well as 10 friends on board a couple of days later.

We were heading for a bay called Wallilabou, near the town of Barrouallie.  When we arrived we once again took a mooring and tied back near the Anchorage Restaurant.  This was where the movies "Pirates of the Caribbean" were filmed and much of the movie sets are still in evidence.
We stayed a couple of nights and wandered around fascinated by some of the paraphenalia that was lying around.  Unfortunately the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan destroyed much of the jetty and waterfront.  But this was where Jonny Depp had walked and fantasies are free.

We were able to clear customs here, but had to report to the police at Barrouallie the next day for immigration, so the walk into the town on a Sunday was interesting.  A complete contrast between the men and youths lolling about outside the rum shacks and the evangelistic meetings that were taking place.  Every couple of hundred metres there seemed to be a church or building with singing and preaching, almost as though they were in competition with one another.

Wallilabou Bay was incredibly sheltered and the nights were still and peaceful except for the bats which seemed to be attracted to Cuttyhunk.  Trying to photograph them was fun.
