Happy Birthday Chris.  The weather had calmed considerable and so we set off for Cape Maleas a notorious spot in this part of the world.  Known to have strong winds and to be quite unpredictable it seemed fitting as a birthday surprise!

With virtually no wind we motored down the coast.  The closer we came to the lighthouse the more it began to build, by the time we reached the corner we were getting 30 knots from dead astern.  That's ok we were happy doing a bit of wave surfing.  We rounded the cape itself and the wind died briefly...............then we were hit with 30knots..........on the nose!  Yes it was completely unpredictable!!!  Just as well we had very little sail up.

We continued around to and island called Elafonisos and anchored up in a large open sandy bay with the most amazing clear turquoise sea.  We settled in to wait for "Awaroa" who were on their way from Milos, baking the requested chocolate cake for the birthday boy.

Helen and John arrived late in the afternoon after making great time and it was party time.

We spent a couple of days here as the weather once again built to a good blow.  Although windy, up to 40kts, it was a great anchorage as the bottom was nice and sandy and really good holding.
And the scenery wasn't too bad either!
